Sensory Loss

On five small, separate scraps of paper write down the five senses: sound, sight, touch, smell and taste. Now turn the pieces over so that you cannot see the text. Choose a single scrap at random.

Write a story about the loss of that sense. For instance, if you chose the “sight” piece of paper, write about someone who is losing or has lost their vision.

HOW TO POST A STORY

If you want to know all the details of posting a story, read this, but if you're short on time and you want to post your story in a flash (wink wink), then follow these steps:

01. Log In

We use Moot for our commenting and discussion system. BE WARNED: if you start typing your story without logging in first, your post might be erased when you decide to log in. So please MAKE SURE TO LOG IN BEFORE YOU BEGIN TYPING .

02. Type

Click inside the box below to begin typing your story. Click on the question mark in the right corner to see formatting options. Remember that your story must be 1,000 words or less to qualify as flash fiction. To make things easier on you, we've included a word counter in the preview box that appears when you start typing.

Oh, and don't forget to provide a link to your blog or social profiles (we won't count that as part of your word limit).

03. EDIT

PROOFREAD BEFORE YOUR PUBLISH. Moot allows just under 3 minutes to delete or edit a post after you've published it. Once that small window has expired, your story cannot be changed.

04. Publish

Congratulations, you've just shared a story!
